Can you share a little about your background and what led you to start your business?
We purchased a second home/Airbnb rental in 2016 and relocated to Mexico from Canada after Covid restrictions lifted. We wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of life, simplify, and reduce our cost of living as we head into our retirement years. As we improved our Airbnb over the years, it became evident we needed to up our game, with the goal of becoming independent from the Airbnb platform.
What inspired you to get into this industry?
Honestly, it was about earning enough income to live in Mexico and pursue a life of art and creativity.
What was the moment you realized, “This is what I’m meant to do”?
Every moment of every day since we made the decision to purchase property here in Mexico.
What were you struggling with before reaching out to the Manifest Team?
Our struggle was having a vehicle to control our own bookings and bill guests. We needed a website that presented our property and amenities clearly showcasing the beauty and tranquility of our house and our little Mexican village. The perfect blend of nature, jungle, and modern accommodations.
How did your old website (or lack of one) hold you back?
We had very little control over bookings and the algorithm. Even with Superhost status, we resisted the need to encourage star ratings and reviews. We felt constrained by the system and dreamt of taking charge in a way that reflected the heart and soul of what we provide our guests.

What emotions came up during the transformation process?
Elaine and her team made it very easy. We were afraid to start, frustrated by technology, and unsure where to begin. We had made several attempts on our own, but it led to disappointment. Elaine started with our goals, desires, and aesthetic, then put together a site that truly reflects our vision and what we can provide our clients.
What do you feel your website communicates about you now?
The website reflects our commitment to providing an experience that is unique, unforgettable, and meaningful for every guest, catering to their individual interests and needs.
What has been your proudest moment in business?
We have had many, but expanding our clientele to the point that we are now booking two years in advance—and 2026 was our first season completely independent from Airbnb is something we are incredibly proud of.

What’s one obstacle you overcame that shaped you into the entrepreneur you are today?
Stepping outside societal norms to pursue our dreams and goals. Breaking free from expectations and fear is overwhelming and extremely challenging, but it shaped us into the entrepreneurs we are today.
What is a breakthrough moment in your business that you’re most proud of?
When we trusted the process and allowed things to unfold organically, the magic started to happen.
What positive changes have you noticed in your business since launching your new website?
We completed major renovations, started attracting more group and whole-house rentals, received more retreat inquiries, and raised our prices to reflect the quality of service we provide. We are pleased to see our revenue increase, and for the first time in ten years, it covers more than our basic expenses.
Since launching your website, what monetary wins or financial results have you experienced?
We’ve had many first-time clients, many returning clients, and our vacancies are virtually zero for the 2026 season. The new website has been integral in increasing our income threefold this season.
Have you noticed any changes in visibility or engagement since the launch?
We’ve had many inquiries through the website. We don’t track website traffic or Google rankings, but the feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive.
What type of client do you think would benefit most from working with us, and why?
We would recommend anyone who wants to take their business to the next level. If, like us, you have very little knowledge about marketing or are looking for fresh ideas for content, Elaine and her team are fast, efficient, and masters at keeping you on track, on target, and accountable exactly what we needed.
Are there any other wins or successes big or small that you’ve experienced since launching your website that you’d like to share?
There have been so many wins! The ability to see our vision come to life so quickly has been incredible. What we thought was a small step in building a website ended up lighting a match suddenly, one thing after another started to fall into place. Bookings started coming, interest began to generate, and connections were made. Elaine is the most positive human being, and her energy and enthusiasm are evident in the product she provides her clients.
