Can you share a little about your background and what led you to start your business?

As a highly functioning, hyper-independent person for most of my life, I didn’t think I would end up running a business or be in a leadership position to build a team. To be honest, it’s pretty much been piecemealing everything and having the great fortune of working with incredible people and a wonderful team that have gotten us to where we are.

What inspired you to get into this industry?

When I first started to explore career options, I wanted to support those who have experienced domestic violence. I considered the professions that could help these individuals like becoming a family lawyer, counsellor, child and youth worker, doctor, etc. I knew that I wanted to help people and as I started to work with more with families impacted by domestic violence, I realized how much I needed to work on my own personal things before I could be of real support. I had an idea of who I was but I didn’t have clarity. As I took different opportunities that came my way from sales to research to child youth work to hospital social work to accessibility and now psychotherapy and learning strategies, it’s been a journey of finding perspectives in each of these experiences. Currently, I am really appreciating being able to support clients as they explore building clarity for themselves, their potential neurodivergence, and having a sustainable life which involves skills to manage stress, burnout, and relationship or communication challenges with loved ones (romantic partner, family, and friends).

What was the moment you realized, “This is what I’m meant to do”?

There really wasn’t a moment. It seemed like this was just the natural progression of where things were moving as each moment and experience that led up to today was an intentional focus on supporting others and helping them find their clarity.

What were you struggling with before reaching out to the Manifest Team?

Before reaching out to the Manifest Team I was struggling with being able to put my purpose into words and showing it in the online space. My clients really knew me by working with me, but my presence online and how our team works was not as present until working with the Manifest Team.

How did your old website (or lack of one) hold you back?

The old website did not communicate with the same clarity what our work was about. As a result, the website didn’t bring in traffic and wasn’t able to direct clients to what they needed.

What emotions came up during the transformation process?

From confusion and overwhelm to clarity and relief.

What do you feel your website communicates about you now?

The website is a great example of who we work with and how we work with clients. It holds the voices of our team and gives clients an easy way to navigate how they can start their journey with us.

What has been your proudest moment in business?

The statistics say that within the first year, about 20-25% of businesses might fail. We’re reaching year 3 and are excited to continue to support and grow as we go.

What’s one obstacle you overcame that shaped you into the entrepreneur you are today?

“The more I learn, the less I know.” Being someone who my family had relied on to have the answers and to help translate where there were language barrier, I found myself believing that I needed to know the answer in all situations (which is an impossible task). I found myself being very perfectionistic and experiencing imposter syndrome as I progressed further into the entrepreneurial space. As I allow for myself to engage in a learning process, it has lightened the pressure to know it all and allowed for me to explore as well as experiment with the support of a team so that we can continue to elevate our work.

What is a breakthrough moment in your business that you’re most proud of?

Building a team and having a network has been the breakthrough that I’m most proud of. In the world of entrepreneurship, it can be isolating and lonely. Having others to walk alongside with in different parts of their journey and to be able to connect with those who have walked other paths with advice on how to move forward in mine has been a blessing.

What positive changes have you noticed in your business since launching your new website?

We’ve really been able to notice that clients who connect with us through finding us online are really who we work best with.

Since launching your website, what monetary wins or financial results have you experienced?

The website has helped us bring in new leads who are aligned with the type of work we do. We’ve received feedback that the website also provides us with authority on the work we do as a clinic and the services we offer.

Have you noticed any changes in visibility or engagement since the launch?

One of the difficult transitions was that Google had to re-index the website after we rebranded and had to push traffic towards the new site the Manifest Team helped us build. This meant that there were a few months of limited visibility but that has changed over time.

What type of client do you think would benefit most from working with us, and why?

Small businesses are likely the bread and butter for the Manifest Team.

Are there any other wins or successes big or small that you’ve experienced since launching your website that you’d like to share?

A big win would be having the opportunity to meet Elaine. It’s been helpful to have someone who gets how to market using the online space and being so generous in providing support to help Inner Room grow.
