Have you ever struggled with establishing a personal brand that helps you stand out in a crowded marketplace? I know I have!
When I was in elementary school, I was that tall girl who always stood in the back of the class photo. I remember always feeling like I was hidden in the group photo.
In my early 20s, I didn’t like being in front of the camera. In fact, my earlier Instagram feed had my back against the camera, overlooking a stunning view.
I had a breakthrough moment at Tulum beach. Standing on the beach for a content shoot and feeling my hat about to fly off with the wind, I instinctively reached up to adjust my hat with my two hands, and found my signature pose!
With my hat tilted just so, I felt confident, relaxed, and authentic. And from that moment on, I knew I had found my personal brand.
So, why is it so important to find your signature pose and establish a personal brand? Well, in today’s online space, it’s not enough to just be good at what you do. You need to stand out from the crowd and showcase your unique talents and strengths. And one of the best ways to do that is by creating a personal brand that reflects your natural essence and personality.
A strong personal brand can help you increase sales, attract new clients, and establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry. By creating a clear and consistent brand message, you can build trust and credibility with your audience and set yourself apart from the competition.
Think about what makes you stand out: Start with what makes you unique.
Look for inspiration on Pinterest and create a mood board!
Practice in front of the mirror: Get in front of the mirror and start playing around with different poses and expressions until you find something that feels natural and comfortable.
Take lots of selfies: Once you’ve found your signature pose, take lots of selfies and share them on social media. This way, people will recognize you and your pose will become part of your personal brand.
Let me break down the process of creating a personal brand for you:
First, identify your strengths and unique qualities. What sets you apart from others in your field? What are your areas of expertise? Make a list and visualize yourself embodying these traits.
Next, define your target audience. Who are you trying to reach with your brand? Get inside their heads and create a brand message that speaks to them.
Develop your brand mission. What do you want your brand mission to stand for? What message do you want to convey to your audience? Be clear and consistent with your messaging.
Choose your visual brand elements. This includes your logo, colour scheme, and overall visual style. Choose elements that reflect your brand message and resonate with your target audience. Think of it like choosing the perfect outfit for a first date!
Establish your signature pose. Just like I found my signature pose with my hat, you need to find a pose or visual element that captures your natural essence and reflects your personal brand.
Finally, consistently promote your brand. Once you’ve established your personal brand, make sure to promote it across all channels. This includes your website, social channels, and other marketing platforms.
It’s time to embrace your natural essence and create a personal brand that showcases your unique talents and strengths. And don’t forget to incorporate a signature pose or visual element that captures your personality and sets you apart from the competition.
Here is an example of developing my signature pose and brand:
First, identify your strengths and unique qualities. My strength lies in embodying a fun, glowing energy, and being able to smile and go with the flow. However, I can also tap into my masculine energy to break down ideas and goals into actionable steps. I strive to create simplified systems and processes for my clients, which allow them to have more freedom to achieve their goals.
My target audience is women who are between the ages of 20-55. These women are likely small business owners, coaches, or online service providers who have a digital service like online courses, mentorships or services. They need to learn how to leverage building a branding presence on social media and want to feel confident in their brand and be able to create a niched offer suite.
My brand mission: My mission with Manifest Digital is to empower women entrepreneurs by helping them rebrand and repackage their businesses for greater success. We provide a supportive environment and resources to inspire and equip women to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams and make a positive impact in their industries.
My unique signature pose: My signature pose consists of wearing my branded colour hat and effortlessly holding the ends of it with two fingers on each. To me, this pose embodies fun, essence, and flow. When someone sees the photo, they feel free, present, and can relate to me.
The pose isn’t meant to be perfect; it’s meant to showcase that no matter what situation you’re in, you can always turn it around and still receive what you desire.
By defining your brand mission, you can communicate your values and goals to your audience and build a loyal following. Your signature pose can also help to create a visual representation of your brand and communicate your unique personality and style.
Remember, building a personal brand takes time and effort, but by staying true to yourself and consistently delivering value to your audience, you can establish a strong and successful brand that reflects your authentic self.
